Needless to say, this has the TD team very excited. Increased awareness of deliberative methods is key to ensuring adoption; especially when these articles are showcasing success stories in our own backyard. The timing is also fantastic, with both local body and central government election campaigns deep enough into their planning that they’re looking for ways to differentiate; but not so deep that they’re locked in.
We believe this could be more than a flash in the pan; but the start of a wave of awareness, interest, and action to improve how we do democracy at all levels of Government in New Zealand. Fingers crossed!
